Health and Social Care 1st year of University – (Level 4)

This qualification provide a realistic and broad opportunity for Students seeking career and professional development. They will support Students in realizing their potential and provide clear objectives. These objectives are to:

  • provide career path support to Students who wish to develop their management skills, enterprise capabilities and opportunities in their chosen sector.
  • improve learner understanding of any given business environments and organisations and how they are managed and developed.
  • develop skills and abilities in Students to support their professional development

Student will be expected to attend lectures and workshops that will introduce the subject matter. This course is made up of six Level 4 modules and assignments (120 credits)

Blended Learning (for students who are in the UK)

Online learning (International students who are abroad)

Fulltime:  If you are studying full time online or blended learning you can complete each level in 6 months duration.

Part time: if you are studying part time online or blended learning you can complete each level in 2 years from the date of enrolment.

Fast track full time: if you are studying full time online or blended learning you can complete each level in 3 months

Online: if you are studying online and studying at your own pace you can complete in 3/4 years’ time.

Exam and Assessment

  • There are no written Exams, only written assignments it must be submitted after completing each module.

After successfully passing all core units assessment, you will receive a level 4  Diploma from the Qualifi awarding Body.

  • QUALIFI Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or
  • The second year of undergraduate study in health and social care or;
  • Directly into employment in an associated profession.

Academic study skills

The aim of this module is to enable students to develop the necessary skills and understanding to study effectively within higher education. This will enable students to acquire the necessary reflective and critical thinking skills required to achieve individual learning potential.

Communicating in health and social care

The aim of this module is to develop the learner’s awareness of different forms of communication used in health and social care settings and their importance for effective service delivery.

An introduction to healthcare policy

The aim of this module is to develop the Student's awareness of different influences on healthcare and their effect on the development of policy. Evaluation of healthcare policy will allow students to examine what are the key contemporary issues for those making policy, providers, and those receiving support.

Reflective practice

This module is designed to introduce the learner to reflective practice in all its forms. Reflections on practice and in practice are important concepts in health and social care and feed into the idea of self-development linking theory to practice.

Managing people in health and social care

The aim of this module is to enable students to understand the processes involved in the recruitment, management, and development of people in the health and social care workplace. In this module, Students will investigate the processes involved in the management of individuals in the health and social care workplace and how to facilitate change in the organization.

Sociology: concepts in health and ill-health

The aim of this module is for students to gain an understanding of sociological concepts of health and ill-health and their application to care practice in health and social care. It will enable students to gain an understanding of the nature of contemporary society and its influences on the perception of health and ill-health. Students will explore how society is structured in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, social class, family, and households and its impact on health and well-being.
